Spectral Crossings 27th Mar 7:30pm, WAAPA Music Auditorium
Music Director: Lindsay Vickery
Spectral music was developed in France in the 1970s and sought to exteriorise the inner reality of sound, to project its inner dynamics into an acoustic space and time, and to transmit to the public the reality of sound in all its complexity. WAAPA new music ensemble AXIS 21 presents works by, and inspired by, this subtle and ephemeral music.

Apr-24 The Great War 7:30pm, WAAPA Music Auditorium
Music Director: Lindsay Vickery
In 1914 Europe was plunged into a shockingly brutal and incomprehensible war on an unprecedented industrial scale. Students from WAAPA’s Composition and Music Technology course respond to the events of 1914-18 that had such a profound influence on the future of classical music.

Lindsay & Max Vickery // Sam Gillies & Matt Cole // RPQ @ Bar 459
The return of improvised and electro-acoustic music at Bar 459 sees an eclectic selection of duos take to the stage armed with all sorts of electronically-processed instruments, from prepared drum kit to guitar and even a marimba. 7:30-8:00 - Lindsay & Max Vickery: Music technology virtuoso Lindsay Vickery leaves the clarinet at home and takes to processing Max's electric guitar in this heroic father & son duo. 8:20-8:50 - Sam Gillies & Matthew Cole: Sam says farewell to you the only way he knows how before he leaves to go learn things in London by applying his characteristic glitchy, ambient noise processing to Matt Cole's marimba & percussion vibes. 9:10-9:40 - RPQ: The improvised jazz-noise subset of Tangled Thoughts of Leaving follows on from their recent opening for Canberra duo Spartak, closing the night with thunderous drum flourishes and walls of electronic sound.
