Tethys Ocean (2026)

Tethys Ocean is a work in the Tectonic series for trumpet, bass clarinet, double bass and live processing/spatialisation, named (like my works Iapteus and Mirovia) after and ancient ocean theorised to be between Gondwana and Laurasia - the fore-runner of the Indian Ocean. The score uses the same approach taken in my work Tectonic: Pannotia - text and graphic prompts for improvisation drawn live in the Decibel Scoreplayer's Canvas Mode, but in addition explores synchronised electronic processing and spatialisation of the performances by three improvisers. For the performance the score for each performer was projected on one of the walls of the recital hall - so that the audience were surrounded by the score on three sides.

Purnululu (2026)

Purnululu comprises a field recording of a dawn chorus near Punululul (The BungleBungles) made by Mary Rapp using an EigenMike - a spherical 64 capsule spatial microphone. The initial recording was then rendered in a 25 channel high-order ambisonics mix. A score for trumpet, bass clarinet, double bass was constructed and synchronised to the audio recording using a scrolling score in the Decibel Scoreplayer.
